Description
1969 Volkswagen Westfalia – US Import
This beautiful 1969 Westfalia was imported from California and has had just one caring owner since arriving in the UK. It has been exceptionally well looked after, with no expense spared on its upkeep, and maintained to a very high standard throughout.
The bodywork is in great condition, with both sills very recently replaced. The van has always been cared for properly rather than simply “kept going,” which really shows in its overall condition.
Inside, the van is stunning and wonderfully original, preserving the classic Westfalia character. The interior truly captures the spirit of the era, and the photos speak for themselves. It even retains the original child’s hammock in the roof, a rare feature.
The van is fitted with a rock-and-roll small double bed, a fold-up table, sink, and fridge. There are also two over-shoulder rear seat belts, making it ideal for families with children or booster seats.
Mechanically, the van is excellent and runs and drives exactly as it should.
In 2019, a brand-new 1600 single-port engine was professionally fitted (SSP VW Heritage), built using 100% new components. The original carburettor and distributor are present and correctly matched from factory specification.
To enhance the driving experience, the van benefits from a Vintage Speed Classic Quick Shifter and Buttys Bits throttle kit, making it an absolute pleasure to drive.
Another rare feature is the original sink pump, which remains fully functional — something seldom found today.
This has been a much-loved and very reliable bus, having completed three trouble-free trips to France without issue.
With the children now grown up, it’s time for the van to find a new home.
For added safety and usability, the van is also fitted with a front disc brake conversion, improving braking performance while reducing maintenance requirements
