Description
I purchased the Jag in Oct 25 from a chap Ken in Dunbeath in the north of Scotland, for my wife's birthday. It is a beautiful machine and only drove it a couple of times. The engine started cranking very slowly and AA suspected starter failure. I booked in to Moray Classic Car services for a new starter, also a service with health check. After the starter was fitted (as well as a couple of other parts).
Dave informed me there was water contamination. He drained the tanks and replaced pump and filter as well as all fuel lines and (thankfully managed to salvage injectors. He then informed me the engine was completely hydrolocked.
This had happened in previous ownership and had been temp freed.
As the cylinders are in a terrible state. (I wondered why the P. O had been so generous with one tank almost full)
So basically the engine (short motor) needs rebuilt or replaced.
So if any one has a 4. 2 jag sovereign 1984 with a good engine and rotten chassis. This car is ideal, as the body and chassis would pass an m. o. t. Although the jag is 41 and tax & m. o. t exempt. Dave at mccs is happy to give any potential buyers an honest opinion on the condition of the Jag.
His contact details are on the invoice pic. I paid well over the market value for the Jag, as it is a beautiful, elegant machine. But I'm afraid not everyone's an honest classic car enthusiast. Thanks for looking. This is a beautiful luxury car, which would give a fantastic driving "experience.
