For sale is my 2006(56) Maserati GranSport Spyder in Rosso Mondiale with a full Nero leather interior. Just back from a major service at McGrath Maserati in January (costing well in excess of £3000), with a clean bill of health, this is a wonderful car ready to be enjoyed.
I’ve owned my GranSport Spyder for nearly three years now and am only selling due to the accidental auction purchase of another noughties sports car and a consequential lack of garage space.
The condition is truly excellent. The paint presents very nicely, with no fading to the bold lustre of the red. The interior is very well preserved – the matching red carpets remain in good condition, the usual sticky plastics were rectified by McGrath in 2023 and the leather shows no signs of excessive wear. Mechanically, the car is spot on, and I welcome any specialist inspection. The last three services (under my ownership) were carried out at renowned specialist McGrath Maserati who comprehensively inspected the car, and any advised work was undertaken. A previous owner treated and sealed the underside of the car and it remains clean and protected from surface corrosion as a result.
I have always kept the Spyder in a Carcoon Veloce in my garage and it has only ever been driven in dry conditions. All major wear and tear items are in good fettle, with the brake discs and clutch each only having covered a couple of thousand miles. Clutch wear was at a mere 13% when it was last checked less than 2, 000 miles ago. The gearchanges are commendably smooth and quick (and much more impressive than Aston’s automated manual boxes of the same period).
I have kept a log of all journeys, evidencing regular use, and only ever filled up with premium petrol, mainly Esso Supreme 99 for its zero ethanol content.
The only negative is that the hood fabric is fraying slightly in the usual spot (where tension pulls the hood against the frame) - this is unfortunately very common on these models.
