1956 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL
This 190 SL received a full and comprehensive restoration in 2012 to a very high standard throughout and has covered minimal miles since. The car was acquired by the existing owner in 2014.
A rare model, combining timeless elegance with restrained use.
Purchased by its current keeper in January 2014, a no expense spared 100-point restoration was instructed in a very desirable colour combination of blue with cream hard top and black soft top.
Today this beautiful 190SL presents in exceptional order throughout which is a testament to the outstanding quality of workmanship and the way the car has been kept by its present owner. In 1954, Mercedes-Benz displayed a concept version of the 190SL at the New York Auto Show alongside the 300 SL ‘Gullwing’. This concept came to market in 1955 as the 190SL. Hugely successful, production ran to 25, 881 cars from 1955 until 1963, mainly in left-hand drive form, with most going to the North American market, just 2% of the total production were made in right hand drive.
The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL (W121) was introduced in 1955 as the smaller and more accessible stablemate to the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SL.
Whilst the 300 SL was the competition-derived flagship, the 190 SL offered elegant open-top touring combined with robust Mercedes-Benz engineering and quickly became one of the most desirable sports roadsters of its era firmly placing the 190 SL within the same important mid-century Mercedes-Benz sports car lineage.
