Description
This is a structurally sound 1997 Revision 4 MR2, benefiting from a life spent in Hertfordshire (Southern chassis) until late 2023. Unlike many UK examples, the dreaded sill issue has been definitively addressed with a professional full replacement in 2024.
Mechanically, it features a 3. 0L 3VZ-FE V6 conversion performed by the renowned Paul Woods of Woodsport. It is fully DVLA registered as a 3. 0L. Recent maintenance (2024-2026) includes new brake calipers, cables, spark plugs, and a professional alloy refurbishment by ‘We Restore Alloys.’
Future work: The car has a long MOT until November 2026. The only noted item is a minor exhaust leak. I have left this for the next owner to decide if they want to retain the current setup or upgrade to a custom system to further enhance the V6 ‘howl.’ The paintwork is honest and presents a deep lustre, commensurate with its 27-year age. I have owned this car since 2008, overseeing nearly 18 years of specialist care. It stands out because the three most daunting MR2 tasks—the V6 engine swap, structural restoration, and precision maintenance—are already done. Provenance is backed by a signed letter from Paul Woods confirming the build details.
My favourite thing is the ‘sleeper’ nature of the build. It retains the N/ A boot lid and factory aesthetic, but the Woodsport conversion, paired with a Fidanza lightweight flywheel, transforms the car. It offers a linear power delivery and effortless torque that rivals Turbo models, but with V6 reliability.
This is a turnkey enthusiast car maintained with a 'no-expense-spared' approach using MR2 Ben parts and specialist 90s-era Toyota mechanics. For the purist, the sale even includes the original Toyota Radio/ CD player and a separate CD changer unit, a rare detail for a car of this vintage.
