Description
"ARCHIE" September 1927 Austin Seven CHUMMY
A full "nut and bolt" mechanical restoration, chassis up has been completed recently. The bodywork is in original condition and can be used, as is, or restored as you please. An earlier restoration in the 1950's saw the front and rear brakes coupled. The rear end of the chassis extended to strengthen the body and the car hand painted in Humbrol Green. The seats and hood were recovered. History and photographs going back 90 years. Owned by one family since the early 1930's. The recent body off restoration has had every component restored or replaced. Engine completely restored, re-bored with new pistins, new valves and springs, crank ground and new white metal big ends. Refurbished carburettor, dynamo and magneto, new plugs and leads. Reconditioned starter motor and horn. New wheel bearings and brakes throughout. New crown wheel and pinion new bearings and seals. New silencer. Speedometer drive belt fitted. New correct radiator core fitted. Chassis and running gear sand blasted and powder coated. Tyres good as new. This mechanical restoration was completed over a 12 month period and cost in excess of £5500 excluding labour. Hopefully good for another 70 years happy motoring. It took me a long time to find "Archie" and I have enjoyed the journey through the restoration and to driving him out and about. The paintwork is far from pristine so it makes for a classic that can be driven anywhere. Out in all weathers, down to the shops or across country, wherever takes your fancy.
