Description
Toyota MR2 SW20 Rev 3 - BEAMS Red Top/ 200Bhp+ & LSD - Rogue Motorsport build.
Reluctantly selling my manual T-Top 1995 Toyota MR2 Rev 3 (SW20) due to moving away. I'd love this car to go to someone who will actually enjoy driving it and will take good care of it, it's a pure enthusiasts style of build and is set up to be a high revving fast road canyon carver & a hill climbers dream - sadly ULEZ expansion means it rarely gets driven nowadays, and it deserves better. She took down 11 countries with real Grand-Touring & Brands Hatch in her day without issue or complaint. You could literally dismantle and blast this car towards mars on the tip of a rocket and by the time humanity finally catches up generations later they would merely just need to reassemble her and top up the fluids and she'd be good to go, well built and very tough with a top steering wheel lock thrown in.
Mileage: 104, 977.
Owners: 3 including myself.
Transmission: Manual.
Engine & Drivetrain:
- 3SGE BEAMS Red Top engine conversion (from a Celica - Refurbished & installed by Rogue Motorsports).
- Engine tested excellent prior to installation.
- Short Ram intake installed.
- S54 gearbox (refurbished & modified by Rogue Motorsport).
- Shorter 4. 1:1 final drive (JDM Spec) for stronger acceleration.
- Longer 5th gear ratio installed for relaxed motorway cruising or to take full advantage of an autobahn.
- Ceramic competition Stage 3 clutch (installed by Rogue Motorsport).
- Toda lightweight flywheel (This car requires good clutch control, it's not for everyone to be honest).
- Limited Slip Differential (installed by Rogue Motorsport like everything else).
Exhaust:
- Sports catalytic converter (always passed MOT but do give her a good run prior).
- Mongoose exhaust system (sounds awesome without being excessive).
Suspension, Handling & Brakes:
- Lowered suspension.
- Stabilisation bars fitted front and back for improved handling.
- 17 inch alloy wheels (replaced the original 15 inch).
- Panther brake pads for responsive braking.
The result of these Mod's alone is a very lively and responsive 200BHP+ naturally aspirated drive which grips extremely well and pulls strong out of corners and with good gear shifts can keep up with and even beat stock Rev 1&2 turbo models with no annoying turbo lag. It's a drivers car and being a Rev 3 the upgraded chassis dealt with the snap over steer like with the Rev 1&2 models. It's no laptop on wheels although due to the new ECU wiring required with the engine conversion, the oil level warning light no longer functions on the dash boohoo who cares it's a BEAMS just check the oil level.
Interior & Features:
- Electric windows (work).
- Electric mirrors (work).
- Alarm system (works).
- Radio (aerial rises when radio panel is popped on).
- Reverse camera (Don't judge me I'm big & stiff and it's a small rear window).
- Front & Rear parking censors (annoying noise I won't lie and can easily be unplugged or replaced, again I'm big and stiff don't judge).
- Original gear knob in the glove box with the radio panel & reversing camera/ Sat Nav monitor).
- Green interior trim.
- Black leather seats.
Exterior:
- Greenwood green paint.
- Very respectable for a 30 year old car but of course age related minor imperfections close up.
- Small dent on the left wing (from a child's bike dinking it while parked) easy to pull out and buff but never got around to it.
- T-top so still rigid handling with the option to enjoy the sun & breeze and shed some weight, never felt a leak I think the prior owner used some sealant.
Additional Notes:
- Currently MOT'd just passed 09/ 04/ 2026 but the mechanic advised to have her underside weather proofed.
- Clean & Everything works and presents fairly well.
- The car is in a ULEZ zone, so cannot be test driven without paying the charge. However you're more than welcome to inspect, check everything, start the engine hear her run and have a rev & feel.
Price:
- £7, 495 (Might not be an original BEAMS but it's still a BEAMS under 10k and modified to out perform any original BEAMS) for a well built and fantastic to drive MR2 with the ideal fastest NA set-up (unless you change compression & go supercharger, thought about it myself I won't lie to chase down stock rev 3 turbo's but wanted to keep it more mint as it's just such a beauty), this is a great example of Natural Aspiration at it's finest. Serious enquiries most welcome (Message through the site only please).
