Description
This Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV is a striking example of the iconic sports coupe, freshly repainted in 2024 and since transformed into a captivating ‘Art Car’ in collaboration with artist and designer Olaolu Slawn.
It is powered by a ported and polished 2. 0-litre twin-cam inline-four, producing a dyno-proven 152bhp and sending it to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
This example was previously used as a competition car and raced in the Historic Sports Car Championship. In 2021 it had work performed by Majestic Motors to return it back to a ‘fast road’ setup and removing some of the racing hardware.
The odometer currently indicates 26, 041 miles, though this is not warranted.
The car comes with a certificate of authenticity for the artwork, signed by the artist.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Repainted in Francesca Verde in 2024, this Alfa Romeo GTV was transformed into a striking ‘Art Car’ by British-Nigerian artist Olaolu Slawn, famed for his street-art-inspired style and high-profile collaborations.
Inside the car is trimmed in black vinyl leather, and features a black roll cage, black carpets and door cards, and a Momo three-spoke wood-rim steering wheel.
It rides on 15-inch Alfaholics GTA-style alloy wheels, fitted with Yokohama tyres.
Other modifications include Bilstein sport dampers, an Alfaholics exhaust system, a fibreglass dashboard, an improved radiator and fan box, an Alfaholics fuel tank, ported and polished cylinder heads, rally camshafts, a rally clutch, a lower final drive gear, race-spec water and oil radiators, a lightweight alternator, and a race battery mounted behind the passenger seat.
Two large folders of paperwork accompany the sale, showing service history, invoices for modifications and works, and also period H racing identity forms.
The car also comes with a certificate of authenticity for the Slawn artwork.
The seller notes that there is only one original ignition key included in the sale.
CONDITION
Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
The seller notes that the lights are permanently switched on when running and the passenger interior door handle needs fixing, it just comes loose.
The vehicle is understood to be exempt from mandatory MOT testing due to its age.
SERVICE HISTORY
The latest service was carried out during July 2023 at 24, 000 miles by Fourways Engineering. The work consisted of an engine oil and filter change service.
Prior to this, the engine was serviced in 2021-22 by Ric Wood which was a top end engine rebuild and fitment of rally camshafts and a new clutch. The car was serviced by Majestic Motors as part of the recommissioning.
The seller notes that in previous ownership the choke cable was replaced, a new ignition system was fitted in June 2023, a new clutch master cylinder in April 2022, a rolling road tune and carburettor re-jetting was performed in January 2022 and a four-wheel alignment in December 2021.
In 2021, around £10, 000 was spent to return the car back to a ‘fast road’ setup, removing racing hardware, removing some structural rust, and renewing the brake lines. This is an opportunity to acquire a genuinely one-of-one piece — equally at home in a private collection, gallery setting, or on the road — offering both cultural significance and classic Alfa Romeo driving appeal.
A rare chance to own a car that is not only driven, but also experienced as art.
