Description
For sale is a unique and meticulously restored Renault 10 - fully electric under the name Mars II Electric. It was developed in the late 1960s by Robert Aronson in Detroit. This is the only one of 45 examples produced to come to Europe, more precisely Sweden, and is probably the only one in Europe. This vehicle was purchased by Vattenfall in 1968. Here is a more detailed description: Conversion: The Mars II Electric was created by dismantling a Renault 10, where the gasoline engine and associated components were replaced by an electric motor and battery pack. Main features: According to evdl. org, the Mars II had an electric 12 kW motor, a four-speed manual transmission, and a 120-volt battery (20x6v). It also had regenerative brakes and was fast-charging. Production: 45 units were built in Detroit by Electric Fuel Propulsion (EFP). Significance: The Mars II was a pioneering project in the development of electric vehicles and demonstrated the feasibility of electric cars with sufficient range and charging capacity. It also demonstrated the potential of the charging network for electric vehicles. The vehicle was renovated in 2024. We have the car in Slovakia near Bardejov, where it is possible to inspect and test drive. It has Swedish documents. Complete photo documentation of the car's renovation is available.
