Description
A rare opportunity to own a piece of Lotus history. This 1983 Lotus Esprit Turbo was previously owned by David Wickins, the businessman who rescued Lotus Cars in the early 1980s.
Comes with documentation, and provenance certificate confirming Wickins’ ownership.
The Esprit Turbo is already an appreciating classic, but this example’s direct link to Lotus’ saviour makes it truly one-of-a-kind. Perfect for serious collectors, enthusiasts, or those seeking a show-stopping ’80s supercar!
This is a unique low milage Lotus Esprit Turbo. This car has only done a genuine 32000 miles
Yes, it’s had some paint and repairs but only to take it back to its near to original condition as left the factory and then given to the new MD and Chairman of Lotus David Wickins in 1983.
The car has many unique qualities...
A unique colour in British racing green and black underside. This was a special request from David Wickins.
And inside everything is green! Leather seats, carpet, headlining, another special request. I guess he liked green.
Air conditioning
I have owned and loved this car for 5 years. It runs and drives faultless, everything that has needed to be done on this car has been done, but still very original.
Most of the work on this car was done by the previous owner but since I have owned this car I have finished off all the small little bits and made some improvements all with genuine Lotus parts.
The work that was done by the previous owner was a high-quality respray, full engine rebuild, and new braking, suspension and exhaust systems but all original interior has been kept and still in very good condition.
It is now M. O. T and tax exempt, the last Mot was done in 2023 Passed straight through, and I haven't done many miles since.
The documents I have include, as well as the provenance certificate, old M. O. Ts, service book full of (mainly) Bell & Colvill Lotus stamps up to 20, 000 miles, assorted bills and invoices and the original owner’s manual.
This is a private sale. I have loved owning this car. This car is a genuine part of the lotus story. It has been a pleasure and an honour to own, and make better.
So, I looking to sell this unique car, hopefully to someone who will love it and use it. I was originally planning to take it to lots of car shows but I just haven't had the time to commit. The shows I have taken it to, its gets a lot of attention!
