1987 Mercedes 420 SE W126 4. 2 Petrol FSH 57K Miles Immaculate Example
This 1987 Mercedes‑Benz 420 SE is an unusually original, low‑mileage example with 57, 500 miles from new and only two previous keepers, both long‑term. The car has never been painted; every panel still carries its factory Arctic White finish, and all glass is original with the registration number security‑etched on every window. The original Sparshatt Jones Mercedes‑Benz Bexleyheath dealer sticker remains on the rear screen, exactly where it was when the car was supplied new.
The car was built in July 1987 and left the factory in Arctic White with grey MB‑Tex interior. Its factory specification includes the electric tilt‑and‑slide sunroof, very rare electric tilt and adjustable steering wheel, heat‑insulating glass with heated rear screen, headlamp wipers, illuminated vanity mirrors, electric windows front and rear, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, folding front armrest and rear luggage nets. All of these features still work exactly as intended, including the sunroof, windows, mirrors, and interior accessories.
The service book contains the first 3 stamps being from Sparshatt Jones Mercedes‑Benz Bexleyheath (Including the all important running in service) followed by thirteen stamps from Keys Mercedes Specialist, an extremely well respected garage. The MOT history is extremely clean, with only a small number of advisories in nearly four decades, mostly relating to tyre age and rubber bushes. It now sits on near‑new tyres and the car recently completed a 300‑mile trip without any issues and performs exactly as it should, pulls well in all gears and sits quite happily at 70 mph on the motorway. Mechanically, it is in great condition and ready to be driven home.
The bodywork is rust‑free. The arches, sills, jacking points, inner wings, boot floor and underside are all solid and has never had any welding, no repairs and no rot. The paint presents consistently across the car with no dents or scrapes. All four alloy wheels are clean and present well, with a factory original (unused) fifth alloy in the spare wheel well.
The interior is in very good condition for its age and mileage. The original grey MB‑Tex presents well, with the seats showing minimal wear. The door cards are clean and tight with no sagging or damage, and all pockets and trims are intact. The wood trim is original and has held up well, with no cracks or peeling lacquer. The dashboard is clean with no cracks, and all switches and controls work properly. The factory mats are still with the car and it even has the original first aid kit sealed. The rear parcel shelf is in exceptional condition with no rust or rot, which is very rare on W126s.
Has been dry stored within a private collection with monthly checks alongside regular start ups with driving up to temp. Just had an oil and filter change (the dipstick looks like honey!) alongside 12 Months MOT for the new owner.
The car has never been written off, stolen, imported or colour‑changed. MOT expires Feb 2027, but as a 1987 vehicle, it will qualify next year for historic status, making it tax‑exempt, MOT‑exempt and ULEZ‑exempt. Will be an amazing usable classic that can only appreciate in value. W126's are becoming increasingly difficult to find and almost impossible to replace. In the last 20 years I haven't seen one in this condition with low owners and low mileage.
