Description
Selling my beloved 2cv as I'll be starting university in September and can no longer afford the pleasure.
She's a lovely car, showing a few surface rust spots, but nothing deeper than that.
Since purchase in 2022 I've done: new clutch, new brake master cylinder, new kingpins, rocker arm adjustment and new gaskets for the rocker covers, new coil, new front brake pads, new handbrake pads (adjusted handbrake), all new exhaust clamps, new battery. I purchased, but chose not to fit new heating pipes, opting to simply block the vents. I've also purchased a carburettor refurb kit, but never needed it.
Car had an MOT just a couple of weeks ago, only advisory was a non-excessive transmission oil leak, but you know what they say; a 2cv that doesn't leak oil is a 2cv that's run out of oil.
The car genuinely drives lovely, just today I drove a round trip of ~70 miles to Llandovery and back both to celebrate the nice weather and as a last hurrah.
I've always done my own servicing, most recent was two years ago, but due to a number of factors I didn't drive her at all last year.
There is also a ton of paperwork, history and awards from previous owners.
I also have a steering wheel lock (disklok worth over £190 when new) and a stormforce 2cv car cover which was purchased in November for £210. I'm happy to sell these with the car, price negotiable. I purchased the car in 2022 as I've always been enamored with 2CVs ever since a school trip to France where we happened to stumble upon a gathering of a 2cv club.
I was working quite a distance away but when I got a new job within cycling distance I knew I was finally in a position to sell my runabout and move to cycling in the poor weather and driving my 2cv in the warmer months. After a few teething problems were sorted out (clutch, coil, brake cylinder) she's never once let me down and if I had the time or money I've always wanted to take her on a trip around the NC500 in Scotland. Sadly plans change, but I've had memories that'll last a lifetime.
My favourite thing about 2CVs, but more specifically mine (due to the eye-catching colours) is how many people smile when they see you. I also can't help but beam when I'm driving down the road in my slow, rickety, absolutely gorgeous car. I hope the next owner finds as much joy as I have.
