Description
Chassis number GWE53, registration BLE720, is a Hooper Sports Limousine. GWE53 came off test in October 1933 and was ordered for the Brussels Car Show with the end user being Monsieur Kino, a Belgian diplomat living in Antwerp. The car was ordered with built-in wing mirrors. The car didn’t go to Brussels but instead was bought by Captain A M Hughes of Chislehurst, Kent. Monsieur Kino the ordered another identical car. Thus, GWE53 has a twin and these two cars are the only prewar 20/ 25s I have seen with built-in wing mirrors.
GWE53 was an RREC Southern Show winner in 2023 and has travelled long distances through France with The 20-Ghost Club in 2023 and 2024.
The car features an owner driver ‘E’ steering rake, sunroof, tool kit, overdrive and rear luggage rack. The car was reupholstered in 2018/ 19. Suspension and shock dampers have been reconditioned. The dynamo was rewound in 2024 and has an electronic regulator. The car has LED lights throughout.
Current MoT. The car's sloping back makes for an attractive looking car which always raises a smile or a wave wherever she goes. It always starts first time and drives smoothly as a Rolls-Royce should. I have owned the car for 8 years. It has been MoT'd and serviced annually.
