Description
Bedford CF Autosleeper Camper Van with pop up top first registered original Portugese Left Hand Drive 10/ 3/ 1977. All original with no conversion just as the CF Autosleeper was first introduced to the UK market in 1976. Historic increasingly rare campervan with genuine parts. Excellent condition for age with no rust when purchased in Portugal in 2017 registered and insured in Portugal in my name and passed the IPOs by the IMT (equivalent of the UK MOT). Transported to the UK in 2020 but not registered in the UK (historic vehicle MOT exempt). Intending on having her restored she has sadly sat on my driveway and has succumbed to some rust and decay to the interior cupboards and roof.
Solid underside and panels.
Original cupboards, bunk beds/ hammocks, seats and upholstery in fair condition, curtains (new fabric needed), european electrical plugs, fridge, sink, shower attachment, 2 burner gas hob.
All original including dashboard, parts, switches, mirrors, panels, doors, windows, mudflaps etc that are increasingly hard to find. I would prefer to sell as a whole to a Bedford enthusiast/ classic van fans as it would be a shame to break it up for a charming and increasingly rare van.
The van is not driveable and will need to be collected on a trailer to its ultimate new home either UK or Portugal.
Further information and photos are available on request.
Full documentation and the original Bedford CF box with spare parts/ tow rope/ jack, all contents and two Haynes Bedford Owners workshop manuals includedThe Bedford CF Autosleeper is the iconic vehicle of the camping scene in the 1970s and 1980s. With a distinctive boxy, characterful look there are very few surviving examples. I purchased a 1974 one in London in 1996 and drove throughout Europe and the Middle East. The most amazing van "Boonie" became quite famous amongst Australian backpackers and travellers but was sadly stolen. I looked everywhere for him and in 2016 widened the net to think he would have been scrapped so embarked on a mission to find a replacement. Years of searching I was unsuccessful until I found the exact same one in Portugal in very good condition. I loved Maria but during Covid when moving from Portugal back to London I shipped her over intending on restoring her. Sadly I did not and I do not want her rotting away in my driveway but restored to her glory and ideally appreciated by a new owner in Bedford CF community.
