Renault Clio Williams 3 for sale.
The last (and rarest) version of the Williams, differing from the first two versions with ABS, a sunroof, and the brighter 'Monaco' blue paintwork. I understand less than 20 ‘3’s’ remain taxed and in regular use.
Now for sale as I have scratched my Williams itch and the reality is I have too many cars and too little time. Still driven regularly - not to be mistaken for a car which has just come out of years in storage and needing a full recommission!
Serviced last year (>1000 miles ago) and MOT until 26 August 2026.
It's in great condition for a car that is now over 30 years old. The body is very solid and it presents really nicely with a great shine to the paintwork, and with alloys that have been refurbished recently. It's not totally mint and has a few imperfections here and there, and is priced with that in mind, but is very presentable for any modern classic car show. Indeed, it took pride of place on the grid at a Goodwood breakfast club last year.
In terms of history, and the reason it is not priced any higher, is because it was declared a Category C write off in 2005 following damage to a rear wing and bumper. Market value was fairly low back then, which would have had a major bearing on any insurance categorisation.
Service history up that point was perfect, and it then went through a few owners before being bought by a classic race car engineer/ restorer, who set about tidying it up and overhauling it mechanically (both engine and underneath) in his ownership of circa 10 years. The owner prior to me then kept on top of everything and also carried out a number of cosmetic improvements such as the wheel refurbishment and brand new Michelin Pilot 3's all round as well as fully undersealing it. A number of parts were also sourced, including the suit-carrier parcel shelf at great expense, free of cut-outs for in period ‘6 x 9’s’.
The interior is in lovely original condition with everything complete as it should be, even with the original blue 'Williams' mats, front and rear. Original Blaupunkt stereo is included, as is the Original jack, tools and spare wheel (despite underside picture showing it missing as it was removed for underseal treatment).
It’s been owner-serviced since 2005, with a stack of receipts. The recent MOT history gives a great idea about how well this has been looked after in recent years.
It drives beautifully, just as it should, and ultimately represents a really usable example, with no major expenditure or work required. As well as brand new tyres, the discs and pads have been refreshed all-round within the last few thousand miles.
