1974 Citroën GS Birotor
First registered in June 1974, chassis no. 3396 was acquired in Le Mans in 1980 and imported to the UK by Andrew Brodie in 1989. It remained in his ownership for almost 20 years before being sold in 2009 to Eoin Sloan, whose meticulous care forms an important part of the car’s history. Initially registered in the UK under its earlier number XMV 98N, it is now registered as VMR 268M.
The history file is extensive and includes the original French documentation and carte grise, purchase receipt, owner’s manuals, technical literature, invoices, MOT records and a heritage certificate from the Citroën Conservatoire, together with period correspondence and detailed notes recording the car’s ownership, maintenance, journeys and appearances. The car is also featured in Andrew Brodie’s book An Omelette and Three Glasses of Wine.
Recently recommissioned by rotary-engine specialist Phil Blake, the car is now back on the road and remains highly original and very well preserved, having covered 43, 400 kilometres from new. Believed to be one of only two known GS Birotors in the UK, it is a particularly rare and remarkable car.
