Description

For sale is an exceptional Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk3 – one of the most desirable and iconic versions of the legendary “Big Healey” range, representing the final evolution of this British sports car icon.

This example has undergone a complete, body-off, ground-up restoration carried out with absolute attention to detail.
The body was fully stripped to bare metal and meticulously rebuilt, with every section of the chassis and bodywork finished to a high-gloss standard, including all hidden and hard-to-reach areas, exactly as per original factory construction standards.
The car is finished in a timeless and elegant colour combination of Ice Blue and Old English White. The interior is completely rebuilt from scratch in blue leather, featuring new woodwork, new foams, carpets, and all trim components.
A matching mohair soft top and tonneau cover complete the classic period-correct specification.

All mechanical components have been fully rebuilt using new parts – including engine, gearbox, overdrive, differential, and carburettors. During the engine rebuild, upgraded valve stem seals were installed to significantly reduce oil consumption. In addition, the original rear crankshaft rope seal—known for its tendency to leak—has been replaced with a modern, dedicated seal conversion using a lip-type (simmering) seal, effectively eliminating oil leaks from this critical area.
The electrical system, instruments, and all ancillary components have also been fully restored to original specification.

For both aesthetic and functional improvement, additional air vents (“gills”) have been fitted to the front wings and bonnet. This modification is inspired by historic competition Healeys, which participated in major endurance and rally events such as 24 Hours of Le Mans and Rajd Monte Carlo. Beyond the visual enhancement, these vents significantly improve engine bay cooling and reduce heat transfer into the cabin during hot weather.
The car is fitted with 72-spoke wire wheels and wider Vredestein tyres, carefully selected to maintain a period-correct appearance while offering improved stability and high-speed performance.
Additional equipment includes:
a set of brand-new chrome wheel knock-offs (unused) for the next owner
a solid wooden steering wheel, colour-matched to the dashboard
original bonnet available for repainting if desired
The vehicle retains matching numbers throughout.
A complete restoration dossier is included, consisting of over 1000 photographs documenting the entire rebuild process, available upon request.
The Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk3 remains one of the most celebrated British sports cars of the 1960s, admired for its pure analogue driving experience, timeless design, and motorsport heritage. This example combines authenticity, top-level restoration quality, and true usability – making it equally suitable for a serious collector, enthusiast driver, or long-term investment.
Price is negotiable.
I am also open to interesting offers or trade-in proposals, particularly for other restoration projects such as an Austin Healey BJ8 or Jaguar E-Type.
Please feel free to contact me – I am confident we can reach an agreement. I have a deep passion for classic car restoration—both professionally and privately. This Austin was rebuilt with exceptional attention to detail and a strong focus on authenticity, quality, and long-term durability.
This is the fifth Austin Healey built by us to the same proven specification, reflecting both experience and a consistent restoration standard.
Over the years,
I have specialized in classic cars and know these models inside out.
The car is equally well suited for a serious collector as well as for an investor looking for a high-quality, properly restored example. At the same time, it offers an excellent driving experience—fully rebuilt and sorted, it is reliable, comfortable, and ready for long-distance touring without compromise.

The car has not yet been driven after the restoration. It is currently in the process of registration and will undergo approximately 100 km of road testing to ensure everything is fully checked, properly adjusted, and operating as intended.
This final stage of preparation guarantees that the car will be completely sorted and ready for delivery to any destination in Europe—or worldwide if required.
