Late 1946 Ford V8 Deluxe Tudor Sedan – hopped up, traditional, period mild custom – VHRA eligible car.
Solid original rust free 'survivor' car which I imported from Texas in 2014.
It retains its original stock 3 speed transmission and running gear and has a drop axle up front with reversed eye springs front and rear. Rolling on the original 16" wheels with whitewall Firestones with Carrillo Customs caps.

Edelbrock Block Letter Heads, Edelbrock Slingshot Manifold, 2 x Stromberg 97 Carbs, later 8ba insert bearing crank and rods, Schneider 254F Cam, Isky Springs, Johnson's adjustable lifters, Stromberg e-Fire distributor, plus electric fuel pump.
The car’s done just under 9, 000 miles since rebuild.
Adam Blackbourne @downtoearthautoelectrics rewired the whole car, retaining it as 6 volt (easy to upgrade to 12v if desired). Runs with a modern 6v red top Optima battery.

Nosing and decking. Lowering. Louvering hood and modifying side trim. Fabricating the twin exhaust system (has Smithy Mufflers). Relocating rear license plate. Grill 'eagle' bar removal and mounting bar remoulded. Aerial removal. Relocation of parking lights. Fitting of NOS Packard tail lights. Rear fender gravel guards removed. Steel fender skirts added.
After which the car was painted in 2024 by Simon Ridge @empirepaint_uk in a period style deep Burgundy. The paint has a great tonal range in different lighting conditions.
Inside, the car has a new, complete period custom tuck and roll interior with proper wool stuffed pleats done in genuine USA Naugahyde vinyl in cabernet and cream. The floor wears Heritage traditional English wool carpet in claret with Naugahyde trim. It retains its original cloth headliner, that does show its age, but hangs as it should with no sagging.
Original, unmolested dash with all gauges working as they should, also has a Westach tachometer installed and New Port electric wiper motor.
I’ve had the car MOT'd every couple of years and it’s always passed. The car has been kept garaged all its life. Superb condition with zero rust anywhere, has never required any patching or welding having come from a dry State, and none is needed.
All in all, a reliable honest and solid, get in and drive late 40s/ early 50s style mild custom.

Vehicle History
Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, the car was purchased and driven by original owner as stock until 1982 then garaged on blocks. It was then sold and mechanically recommissioned after his passing (around 2011).
After importing the car in 2014 (making me the third owner) I drove the car as it arrived for a couple of years before having the engine rebuilt in 2016. I then ran the car at the VHRA’s Pendine Sands Hot Rod Races on a few occasions before retiring it and progressing with the custom side of things.
It is currently scheduled to participate in the forth coming indoor Leadroom Traditional Kustom Car Show at Sandown Park Racecourse, 2-3 May, 2026.
