Description
Offered for sale is my 1997 Jaguar X308 XJR in British Racing Green.
This is a very interesting example as it is a very early pre production car, built in March 1997 (the X308 was not launched until September 1997). I only know of one other surviving X308 XJR on a P registration and even in period there were very few, so it's very rare and historically important.
Jaguar kept the car for a year before it was sold to a private owner, who kept the car for the next 26 years. It had a further owner before I acquired the car last year.
The car is in generally good condition but at almost 30 years old does now require some attention to the body and paint, rear arches, bottom of front wings and lacquer peel on boot and rear wing.
The interior is in very good condition except for the usual headlining drooping at the back. The car is good mechanically, mot'd until late November. I've fitted a set of R1 split rim wheels as in my opinion they look much better than the original wheels. All four tyres are new and have only done a few hundred miles.
I had intended to get the bodywork sorted but I have too many other projects on the go, so it needs to find a new home.
I'm sure there is more information at Jaguar to be found about the car but again, I haven't got around to researching. I do have the Heritage certificate from Jaguar which confirms the build date and spec, including that it has always been British racing green, despite the fact it was originally incorrectly registered as blue!
The car is well worth investing some money in given it's significance.
