Description
Triumph T140J 750 Bonneville Jubilee 1977 with less than 800 miles on the clock!
Incredible original condition and sympathetically refreshed.
Pretty well mostly original and untouched, including the paintwork, motor, points ignition and even the yellow finish calipers and the Dunlop K91 tyres. New brakes, fork stanchions, fuel lines, battery, see below.
Includes original tool kit, certificates, handbook, tank rubbers and quite a lot of paperwork.
Starts, runs, rides and stops very nicely!
I am the fourth owner of the bike.
The bike was first owned by a dealership in Jersey where it resided for many years as a display. It moved to Essex in around 1990 where it had its one and only MOT (55 miles) and moved again to the Ipswich area in around 2008 where I believe it was used as a shop dressing. I suspect the paint blemish on the RHS of the tank may have originated at this time (nail varnish remover? Who knows...). I considered having the tank touched up but decided against as they are only original once.
I bought the bike from Bonhams in 2019, with 72 miles on the clock.
i set about sympathetically refreshening the bike, replacing many brake parts (stainless master cylinders, pistons, new seals, hoses, Dot5 fluid) fuel lines and taps, fork stanchions and seals, ethanol resistant carburettor parts, paper 'Charlie's' oil filter, AGM battery and a 7 plate clutch kit. All original parts I've saved where possible, including the Beston handgrips (excellent condition, just not my taste). There are also some new parts including spare oil filters, that come with the bike.
Please note the machine is factory fresh in many ways but in some ways it also has the patina of an old bike, carefully stored. For instance the silver paintwork has slightly yellowed over the years.
I store the bike in my heated garage, occasionally trickle charge the battery, and there's ethanol free storage fuel in the tank.
I'm selling as I'm downsizing, getting older, and not using the bike very much. Time warp original machine that's unmolested yet completely rideable
