Description
This wonderful X300-generation Jaguar XJ6 is finished in Flamenco Red with a delightful Ivory and Oatmeal leather interior. This classic combination suits the car beautiful and strikes a perfect balance between classic luxury and modern sportiness, just like the car does in general. The car rides on 16" 'Dimple' alloy wheels, all in excellent condition, all shod in modern, matching tyres with lots of tread.
The car presents really well and has evidently been cared for over the years; its general condition suggests the car has been garaged for a large portion if its life. There are a few cosmetic defects to note - a couple of dents on the boot lid, a poorly touched up scuff on the front bumper, some corrosion to the front wings behind the mudflaps (a common issue on these cars) and a couple of scratches, however the car wears its years very well. The paperwork includes an invoice for rear wheel repairs which have held up really well. Other than some minor wear to the driver's seat bolster and a couple of staples holding up the rear headliner, the interior is in beautiful condition, especially the veneer. All the electrics work (although the sun roof is a little sluggish) and the warning lights on the instrument panel extinguish as they should.
On the road, the car drives nicely; the 3. 2 AJ16 inline six revs keenly and the auto gearbox shifts well enough. There is some vagueness in the steering due to tired rack mounting bushes (a common issue I understand) but the car handles tidily and rides like a Jag should. It is wonderfully refined except for a slight exhaust blow that has started developing although not enough to trouble the MOT tester. On which note, the car passed its last MOT in March with no advisories which was achieved after some light recommissioning including complete front brake refurbishment.
The car is supplied with three original keys and the full Jaguar drivers book pack including stamped service history. Also included are two remote fobs which will require reprogramming to the car. It is a sound car with some slight areas for improvement. M844 XNO was first registered on 1st March 1995 at Mead of Chelmsford to a company based near Crewe, Cheshire. It is believed the car belonged to one of the company's directors who used the car to drive between his home in Essex and the headquarters in Cheshire, accounting for the significant mileage covered in the first three years as indicated by the car's service history. The car was then supplied to its second owner Mr Robinson by the Jaguar dealer in Stoke who had maintained the car. The car's third owner Mr Barker bought the car at 4 years old and kept it for a further 26 years, covering low annual mileage, presumably using the car for leisure only. The car passed quickly through two further owners into its current ownership in 2025.
