Description
1962 MG MGA Mk2 Coupé – Rare, Restored, Low Mileage
The MGA Mk2 Coupé is one of the rarer and more desirable cars in the MGA range, with just 521 produced, most of which were for the American market. With the improved 1, 622cc engine, it offered a more responsive and usable driving experience.
Only a small proportion of the Mk2 Coupes are believed to survive today. The MG Owners Club are aware of 4, but no doubt there are several others not registered with the club or under going restoration.
This MGA is finished in Old English White - which enhances the car's elegant curved lines, it has a black leather interior with white piping, it is not concourse but presents as a very tidy, correctly restored example.
The restoration was carried out with an emphasis on the car’s original specification
• Full body-off rebuild
• Replacement wings, sills, and floors
• Aluminium bonnet, boot lid, and doors
• Reconditioned chassis, stainless steel exhaust system
• Complete rewire and interior re-trim
• Replacement cooling, fuel, braking, and suspension components
• Correct dynamo and positive earth system
• Twin 6-volt batteries
• Correctly silver-painted wire wheels
Mechanically the car remains in good order, having seen little use since its restoration. It is supplied with a toolkit, an MGA MK2 Owner’s Manual, Haynes Workshop Manual, starting handle, spare wheel and a car cover.
This attractive and rare classic car has only been used sparingly since its earlier restoration and is reluctantly offered for sale due to garage space being needed. The car comes with a Heritage Certificate, it was built during the week 14th - 20th December 1961 and first registered in the USA on 1st January 1962, it was repatriated to Northern Ireland around the year 2000 when it was the subject of a comprehensive, body-off restoration carried out as a retirement project by an enthusiast. Sadly, the restorer passed away before being able to enjoy the car, after which it remained largely unused until returning to England in 2015.
I've owned the car since 2017, during which time it's only been used for short journeys in dry conditions, covering less than 2, 500 miles since its earlier restoration.
