Description
Fiat 126 (1982) Original RHD 18, 000 miles from new in Rosso Arancio (Orange Red).
This is no ordinary 126. This is a rust free cherished low mileage vehicle that has been sympathetically modified.
This 126 was purchased new from Fiat Dealer T. J Vickers & Sons by a gentleman on the 15/ 11/ 1982. The vehicle was later transferred to his wife on 19/ 04/ 1985 and was used sparingly remaining in her ownership until 29/ 05/ 2004 having only covered 6500 miles.
The next owner enjoyed the vehicle for a little while, but being an Fiat/ Abarth enthusiast and Aerospace engineer by trade, decided to modify the vehicle to improve performance and drivability.
The list of upgrades is extensive, but in summary:
The engine was upgraded to 700cc, with uprated front and rear main bearings, Abarth 695 camshaft, Lightened flywheel, Uprated clutch assembly, Panda 30 head machined to 10. 5:1 Compression Ratio, Twin choke Weber 30 DGF carb, Nanni alloy sump, performance exhaust. To make use of the extra power the transmission was upgraded to Fiat 126 BIS high ratio gearbox. The old steering box system was removed and replaced with faster and sharper rack and pinion system. Heavy duty springs and Bilstein dampers were fitted all round as well as a front disk brake conversion. The interior has been kept standard apart from an Abarth sport steering wheel and the installation of a rare Fiat 126 Giannini racing instrument binnacle with speedometer, revcounter and voltmeter.
Other than the addition of an Abarth badge at the rear and the silhouette of a twin exhaust pipe, externally the car remains stock. Once in driver’s seat you soon realize that the car is far from stock. The modifications have transformed it. It sounds great, revs freely and pulls strongly in all gears while handling like a Go cart. It is difficult to drive without having a huge smile on your face.
The vehicle has been cherished, garaged and mileage to date is still low at approximately 18, 000 miles.
This vehicle is rust free, was extensively wax oiled from new, and has regularly been retreated throughout its life. It comes with an extensive service history detailing the thousands of pounds spent on it. It is accompanied by every MOT it has had as well as the old Tax Discs. Included are original owner’s handbook, Fiat 126 sales brochure, and supplying dealer price list.
Present are 2 sets of keys, with original dealer key fobs, and the car is still wearing the original number plates from the supplying dealer. Original toolkit also present.
To clarify this is an original RHD chrome bumpered air cooled Fiat 126 with beige leatherette interior. Not to be confused with the numerous LHD polish imports with plastic/ cloth interior and the water cooled BIS models.
Welcome to view by appointment. This unique vehicle really needs to be seen to be appreciated.
