Description
Senator CD 3. 0 24V. 4 speed automatic.
An excellent example of this executive express which is getting rare, the police bought as many as they could get their hands on, a fine recommendation.
90000 miles from new, has had some restoration work in the past to a very high standard, the paint is excellent and the body is rust free and dent free The two main areas of concern with these is rust in the rear arches and the doors - they're immaculate.
Leather interior is excellent.
Headlining is excellent.
Dashboard is crack free.
Carpets in good condition.
Engine bay is clean and correct.
The powerful 24V engine runs beautifully and pulls nicely through the silky smooth automatic transmission.
As well as being a super smooth cruiser, it's capable of reaching licence losing speeds very quickly if you want to get places quickly.
I've just done a near 600 mile road trip to Cornwall and back in complete comfort, with decent economy for a car of its size.
Being an older car it's bound to have a few things to note - the AC system has mostly been renewed and does work if gassed but has a leak, I suspect a simple pipe joint.
The electronically adjustable suspension has been deleted, as these age it'll fail sooner or later and parts will become scarce, so in my opinion the decision to revert to standard shocks was sensible and the car rides smoothly on them, so nothing to worry about there.
I bought this as a second car, but I'm very old skool and it feels too new for me (I drive a 1983 Opel) so while it's a great example of a great car I'm not in love with it enough, so I want to sell or swap for something older -70s or 80s.
American, Jaguar, Vauxhall FE series, Granada, try me..
