Description
Red Triumph Stag. First registration August 1970
3. 0L V8 engine, soft top convertible. Mileage approx 85, 300
I have been told by an SOC VP member to state that the Chassis/ VIN number LD2120, puts this car into a rarer category. The number means that it was the 212th Stag built and that the “O” stands for Overdrive. I have a copy of the message he sent me if anyone wishes to see it.
It has a spare wheel and jack. 2 sets of keys. 2 immobilisers, ignition and fuel pump isolation. Black leather seats. 2 rear seatbelts. V5 registration document. Original Stag wheels.
Previous owner stated in his advert that it has never had the overheating problem, perhaps due to the original engine overhaul and/ or the after market installation of an oversized cooling fan. Operated by a switch on the dashboard if required. The car runs on E5/ E10 petrol with additive. Power steering, 12v power outlet. Road tax and MOT excempt. Manual gearbox, overdrive in 3rd and 4th gears. He had a gasket change to stop a small leak from the overdrive unit. New heater hoses, installation of a brand new petrol tank, sender unit fitting kit, filler hose etc.
No dents or significant scratches to the body work, interior is in good condition. Wood dashboard.
The paintwork is generally very presentable, but has a few blemishes, some small paintwork chips to the vertical door edges, and some across the windscreen edge of the bonnet. A corner area requiring bodywork attention is needed to the front of the wing by the rear of the passenger door. Shown in the photos. There is some rust on the seal, only visible when the door is open. Some small rust spots on the rims inside wheel arches. Both bumpers have slight spotting/ pitting, again shown in the photos. Drivers door doesn’t lock with the key. Might need a tweak. Starts and runs.
We were given a box file when we bought the car that has a lot of the original receipts for works done and parts etc., MOT certificates, information, photos. Haynes Stag Owners Workshop Manual, spare side Stag badge. The Triumph Stag is a classic beautiful British car. I have been in love with them since I drove one aged 18. I eventually bought this one - (April 2024), but it hasn’t been used as much as I’d hoped due only nipping out if necessary.
This car needs the next person to come along and love and use it and enjoy it. It deserves that at the very least.
