Description
Who doesn’t love a Mini? This is my 10th and its a cracker, not at delicate show queen that can only be used once or twice a year but a super fun driver that can be used anytime.
It looks and drives fab, its quiet and comfy (for a mini), totally reliable and returns around 40mpg. There’s no rot on this Mini, NONE.
It was restored around 10 years ago and the job was done fairly well, good panels and decent paint. Since then its picked up the odd paint chip and one or two marks but its still very presentable even form 5 feet. The seams, window edges, A panels, subframe mounts are all totally solid as the car was wax oiled when restored.
Over winter I’ve done some work on the car to make it more enjoyable. The exhaust has been replaced with an RC40 and sounds great without being intrusive. I’ve reconditioned the injectors ultrasonically and added new seals, the flow and spray pattern is now perfect. It’s had a new auxiliary belt and full service with ALL fluids being changed. New coil pack, K&N air filter, plugs and leads.
Underneath the entire suspension has been rebuilt with polybushes, Spax shocks and new correct suspension cones with hilos all round - what a job that is!
Inside Ive spent a small fortune on a newly restored genuine dash, not a cheap repro that rattles and creaks but a real genuine MPi dash restored by a former Rolls Royce trimmer. It looks beautiful and fits perfectly.
I like listening to music when Im driving so Ive also added a modern DAB raidio and underseat sub but ideally I like to take these out as they cost a small fortune and I’ll use them in my next project. But they could be used as a bargaining point.
If I was being picky the carpet has a couple of marks, the bonnet fit isn’t perfect and there are those minor paint chips. But if they weren’t there then the price would be £3000 more and I’d want to use it less, I’ve done 200 miles in it this week.
