Description
TVR S2, 2. 9 V6, 1989, 31872miles from new.
I have had this very low mileage V6 2. 9 TVR S2 for 15 years but I am now too old to get in and out easily so it has to go. It is in lovely condition for its year, it has only done 248 miles since its MOT in August (no advisories). The chassis and outriggers are completely sound, verified by a body lift in winter 24. The engine starts first time every time, and pulls like a train. There are a few tiny chips and blemishes on the body but it shines and looks very good. The internal trim and seats have some slight wear marks but are generally in excellent condition. I have installed power steering myself following online advice (Subaru rack & Astra pump), this has passed MOTs and been accepted by my classic car insurance, and DVLC are not interested, however I am not technically qualified and I would prefer to refit the original manual rack which has been reconditioned. (Unless you want to accept the power steering at your own risk and get someone qualified to verify its safe)
It has 3 previous owners (two of whom were brother and sister). It was originally chosen as a company car by a lady Barrister working for a London publishing house. She loved the car but found it unsuitable for London traffic so she generally kept it garaged at her parents’ house in Sussex. When she left the company she kept the car, transferring ownership to her brother. Eventually increasing family size made it impractical, so it was sold to a local businessman, who unfortunately needed a hip operation, as a result it spent the next few years garaged on axle stands except for an annual service and MOT, however he states he ran it up to temperature, and through the gears, every month, and sprayed the chassis with oil every year. I had it steam cleaned and waxoiled. The body was lifted in 2024 and no significant rust was found, so it was touched up and rewaxoiled. The car had a 2cm split in the edge of the rear window, I made a stop hole with a hot needle and it has got no worse in 15 years so I have left it alone (photo attached).
Everything works exactly as it should, all the engine, transmission and running gear are easily available Ford parts, it is a very simple construction, and can be maintained by anyone who owns a set of spanners.
This car will leave you grinning from ear to ear every time you take it out. (and only 4 years to go until it is tax exempt). For any other information please give me a callThis car has had three previous owners 2 of whom were brother and sister. It has been garaged its entire life, and it wouldn't surprise me if it had never been out in bad weather, I only take it out when the sun shines and it has been SORN every winter.
