For Sale – 1956 Split Screen Morris Minor
First registered on 27/ 04/ 1956, this charming split screen Morris Minor is offered for reluctant sale due to loss of storage.
A lovely usable example that has benefited from an extensive home garage restoration with a number of sensible upgrades, making it far more enjoyable and practical for modern driving while still retaining its classic character and charm.
The car is fitted with the desirable 950cc engine, giving a useful increase in performance while still maintaining the excellent economy these cars are known for. It has also recently had a new 3-piece clutch fitted, along with new linkages and bushings, helping the car drive smoothly and reliably.
For improved usability, halogen headlight upgrades have been fitted, making night driving far safer and more comfortable without spoiling the original appearance. Indicators have been discreetly incorporated within the sidelights to maintain a period look while improving safety on modern roads.
The braking system has been extensively renewed and upgraded, including:
• New master cylinder
• New brake pipes
• New brake shoes
• Front disc brake conversion
• New front calipers
Combined with fitted seat belts, the car feels far more confidence inspiring and capable in modern traffic.
Inside, the interior was changed by a previous owner, but a brand new carpet set has recently been installed to freshen the cabin. Additional soundproofing has also been added to help reduce road noise and improve comfort when driving.
A great deal of work has also gone into the electrical system, including:
• New wiring loom
• New electrical components
• New control box
• Dynamo replacement
All helping to improve reliability and make the car a dependable usable classic.
The car also benefits from brand new tyres and a recent paint refresh, helping it stand out whether at a local show or parked outside the village shop. It is a car you can genuinely be proud to own and enjoy.
While not a concours example, it is a very respectable and honest classic that still leaves room for the next owner to add their own finishing touches, such as improving some of the chrome work if desired.
A huge amount of time, effort and money has gone into this Morris over the last two years. I used the car regularly back in 2024 before carrying out much of the work, allowing me to properly identify and improve the areas that needed attention. The car also comes with various bits of history and paperwork, including records relating to the engine change and exhaust system replacement.
Get yourself an iconic British classic — if it was good enough for Nurse Gladys Emmanuel, it’s good enough for you!
Open to sensible offers, appreciating that the car is not concours, but a very respectable and enjoyable example.
