1997 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series 4. 2 TD GX Manual — 1HD-FT 24-valve, factory triple locked.
Rare UK 80 Series Land Cruiser GX with the highly regarded 4. 2 turbo-diesel 1HD-FT 24-valve engine, manual gearbox, low-range transfer box and factory front, centre and rear differential locks. Valid MOT till 9 March 2027.
It starts first time, runs well, drives properly and has been regularly serviced. Last full service was at 279, 203 miles in April 2025. The differential, gear box and transfer case oils were changed at that time. The timing belt, water pump and alternator were replaced in late 2024 around 4, 000 miles ago. Although it has technically had 3 owners, the last two of these have been husband and wife, with myself inheriting the car from my late husband. We've owned the car for over 20 years. I am reluctant seller but for reasons of age and lifestyle I am using the car less than I used to.

Condition is consistent with an original 1997 Land Cruiser. It has general age-related paint wear, rusty front wings, some tailgate rust, a dented but serviceable front bumper, visible but surface corrosion underneath, and two areas of welding recently carried out for the MOT. The underside has deliberately not been freshly black-undersealed, so buyers can see its true condition.
A rare, usable and highly desirable 80 Series with the best engine/ gearbox/ lock combination. We've long loved Landcruisers and have owned a variety of Landcruisers for over 30 years, including an older model in which we drove part way across the Sahara. Landcruisers of this era, the late 90s and early 2000s are, in my view, some of the best cars ever made and perhaps the best four wheel drives ever made. This one is the rare 4. 2 turbo diesel 24 valve manual version and, apart from one or two parts like the timing belt, is factory original. It's lovely to drive. Extremely robust. Surprisingly economical on fuel.
