BMW R80 GS sidecar outfit for sale - Location: Czech Republic - MOT (Czech) valid.
The sidecar is a combination of a Dniepr frame, a Ural sidecar body, and a VW Polo hub/ drum brake/ wheel – the sidecar drum brake is paired with the motorcycle's front (disk) brake.
I bought it in 2020 and have done most of the cosmetic restoration myself. The paint isn't the best anymore, but it's still quite decent except for a few patches on the sidecar, where the overlaying panels could not be treated properly. It has new shock absorbers, headlight cover, Siebenrock shift lever, powder-coated Ural luggage rack and new lights on the sidecar, and additional driving lamps on both the sidecar and motorcycle (new lamps and wiring).
The engine was rebuilt approximately 3, 000 km ago by a specialist for classic BMWs here in the Czech Republic. The sidecar outfit drives wonderfully. The last time I drove almost 400 km a day, including highway driving, I drove at a maximum of 110-115 km/ h (the speedometer shows about 10-15 km/ h more) – but it's significantly better and more comfortable on normal roads.
Rear tyre is nearing the end of its life, but still good for the season.
Participation in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride from 2022 till 2026.
I've had a different vehicle since autumn 2023 and don't have time for Hilda anymore, so I'm planning on selling it.
Hilda is a quirky outfit, will carry nearly any camping gear comfortably. If you plan on taking a kid in the sidecar or two adult passengers, both is possible, the engine has enough power and the seats are comfortable. The luggage space and the rack can still carry a lot.
If you go alone, the sidecar passenger seat can be removed for extra luggage space, while you can ride unobstructed by bulky luggage behind/ around you.
Definitely a headturner - puts smiles on people's faces wherever you go!
