Description
Ferrari 348 TB, launched in 1989, represented a major milestone for the Italian automaker. This model was the last to be developed with direct involvement from Enzo Ferrari, and at the same time the first to introduce a more modern longitudinally mounted V8 engine paired with a transverse gearbox – inspired by the racing Ferrari 288 GTO. The design was created by Pininfarina, with sharp lines and side air intakes evoking the legendary Testarossa. Compared to its predecessor, the 328 GTB, the 348 TB was significantly more aggressive and technically advanced, while the transition to electronics and a new chassis improved driving dynamics. However, early versions had their flaws – they were sensitive to suspension geometry setup and tended to feel unsettled at the limit, earning it the nickname “a baby Testarossa with a fiery temperament.” Despite this, it gradually became a cult classic and is now highly sought after by collectors, especially well-preserved examples with unique modifications.
This particular car is one of the very first units produced in 1989 and features several unique elements. It has different seats compared to the standard production version and, unlike later versions, is not equipped with catalytic converters, which gives it a more raw exhaust note and improved performance. The paint is original, and the vehicle’s history is thoroughly documented – the last owner kept it for a full ten years. The engine has undergone a complete rebuild with documented invoices, including new throttle bodies, carbon intake, and a Tubi exhaust system. After dyno tuning, it produces around 330 horsepower, and since the last service it has covered only 4, 000–5, 000 kilometers. Notable details include an original carbon gear knob from the Ferrari F50, and if desired, a rare carbon-kevlar OMP Challenge seat from the racing Ferrari 348 Challenge can also be included. A selection of steering wheels is available, including period-correct Momo units as used in the Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F50.
