Hi there, I'm selling my newly restored MG Midget 1500 from 1976.
This little car is absolutely amazing down B-Roads and country lanes, and also loves being on the motorway. It will sit comfortably at 60MPH and has plenty of power for cruising or overtaking.
Car has V5 in my name and is tax and MOT exempt
In my ownership it has had:
- Full service of engine, gearbox and rear differential
- Full 2k paint job in Vermilion Red
- Dashboard has been restored to lovely matt black
- Re-carpeted interior
- SU carbs stripped and cleaned and properly balanced
- MX5 NA fabric seats (with cables for heated seats, but not wired in yet) which are super comfortable
- Fabric covered door cards
- Heater valve bypass
- Refurbished Rostyle wheels, with a spare
- Clear front indicator lenses
- Moto-Lita 10inch steering wheel
- Factory Fiberglass hard top - Resprayed Gloss Black with fabric liner
- Upgraded gloss black front grill
- Vinyl number plates
- Full rubber bumper removal and blanking plates
- Stainless back box
- Rubber MG Midget floor mats
- Jack included in boot (Not the original)
All round this is a truly lovely car and ill be sad to see it go as i've put so much time into it, but onto the next. Reason for sale is that id like to but a B GT.
Some of the less good bits:
- Passenger door can be quite hard to close and needs a good slam
- Engine bay is a little dirty and could use a repaint
- Surface corrosion on some underside components, but pretty good for a 50 year old British car
- Odometer has stopped scrolling at 55K miles, and rev counter can sometimes not work/ sometimes works really well.
- No keys for boot lock or doors
I bought the car as a small project I could do in some spare time while still using it on weekends, pub trips and car meets. It has been owned by a true car lover who also owns multiple other classics. The car is so reliable and can be worked on with very simple tools.
If you would like a evening or weekend runner that's sporty and can keep up with modern traffic this is the one for you.
