Description
1960 MG MGA 1600 Roadster | Old English White | Heritage Certificate | History File
An attractive and well-maintained 1960 MG MGA 1600 Roadster finished in the classic colour combination of Old English White with oxblood leather interior, complemented by black weather equipment and wire wheels.
I purchased the car from Fiennes Classic Cars in Oxfordshire in April 2022 and have thoroughly enjoyed owning it. In total, the car has had just three owners, including myself.
Originally supplied as a left-hand-drive car, it spent part of its life in Florida, and the accompanying history includes documentation supporting its provenance during this period. At some stage it was professionally converted to right-hand drive, and it presents as a very original and authentic example of the desirable 1600 model.
The car comes with an extensive history file, including:
* British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Heritage Certificate
* Documentation covering its time in Florida
* Maintenance invoices and history
* Receipts for work carried out during my ownership by Oxford Classic Car Services
Mechanically, it has been maintained regardless of cost and is fitted with an AccuSpark electronic ignition system, making it an excellent starter and a very usable classic. It starts readily, runs well and has proved reliable throughout my ownership.
The bodywork is in very good condition, with a deep shine to the Old English White paintwork, complemented by smart chrome and wire wheels. The oxblood leather interior is equally well presented and provides a wonderfully period feel. The engine bay is clean and tidy, reflecting careful maintenance rather than over-restoration.
Included with the sale are:
* Black hood in excellent condition
* Matching tonneau cover
* Complete side screens
* Heritage Certificate
* Comprehensive history file
* Two sets of keys
This is not a concours example, but rather a genuine, honest and very well-presented MGA that has been enjoyed and properly maintained. It is ready to be driven and appreciated by its next owner, whether for touring, classic car events or weekend motoring.
The MGA 1600 is widely regarded as the most usable of the early MGA models, thanks to its front disc brakes and improved performance, and this example is a wonderful representative of the marque.
Any inspections welcome.
