Description

Once-in-a-lifetime collector’s opportunity:
1941 Chevrolet AK-Series 1/ 2-Ton Pickup – Multi-award trophy winner from 2nd owner (Survivor)

Vehicle details at a glance:
Model: Chevrolet AK-Series Light Delivery Pickup (0. 5 Ton)

Year of manufacture / first registration:
March 1941 / 01. 07. 1941
Engine: 235 ci (3. 8L) “Stovebolt Six” inline six – Legendary milestone: the first Chevy six-cylinder with genuine full-pressure oiling (predecessors used only splash/“sling” oiling)

Transmission: Original 3-speed manual gearbox

Registration: German papers with official H-registration (historic vehicle) & fresh TÜV

The history: The Holy Grail for collectors. This Chevrolet AK pickup represents a continuous life story that’s virtually impossible to find on the world’s classic car market today. After 85 years, the vehicle has had just two genuine owner families:

1941 – 2011 (70 years): First ownership within one family dynasty in sunny, dry Florida (Cape Coral). The warm climate protected the body from the typical rust damage.

2011 – 2013: Short stay with a German importer (pure indoor storage, untouched US-standard).

Since 2013: In our family’s loving care. We personally presented the vehicle at DEKRA for the demanding full inspection (\xa7 21 StVZO) and had it registered for the German market.

Officially awarded crowd favourite (“Show-proven”)

This pickup doesn’t just impress at a standstill—it also captivates expert judging panels. Over many years, the truck has been a multiple-time trophy winner in the regional classic car and US-car scene:

1st place: “Prettiest vehicle” at the US-Car meeting Bad Berka 2016

1st place: 5th Truckertreffen Großneuhausen 2016

3rd place: 6th Truckertreffen Großneuhausen 2017

2nd place: Truckertreffen Großneuhausen 2019 (special category: theme US cars)

Condition & special features: Unmolested original body + technical readiness.

The rare factory paint:
The pickup still wears its first factory paint in the extremely rare original colour “Cream Medium”, straight from the factory. This was an exclusive special option (Stripping Colors, not basic), giving the truck a beautiful, upscale two-tone design.

Interior:
The original interior trim, including period-correct, charming striped seat covers (“Sunshine Design”), is fully preserved. The hand-painted nostalgic door lettering “Yadkin Valley Pickers” underlines the authentic character.

Technology & drivetrain:
Over time, the original US owner family fitted a historically perfectly documented upgrade: the sought-after larger 235 ci engine (model year 1953, code LAA). This is a genuine technical milestone, because this engine was the first Chevrolet inline six with real full-pressure oiling to the connecting rods and main bearings, whereas earlier units still relied on the more failure-prone splash/ sling oiling. As a result, the engine is extremely robust, offers noticeably more torque, and lets the pickup cruise confidently and smoothly with today’s traffic—ready and willing on the throttle. It essentially runs “like a dream”.

Current investments:
The vehicle has just come out of a specialist classic car workshop. More than €2, 000 has recently been invested in technical inspection and maintenance. The load-bed and cab’s load-bearing wooden sections have already been professionally renewed. No maintenance backlog—ready to go straight into the season.

The priceless documentation package

The vehicle comes with a complete, museum-style file that will delight any collector:
Original US Certificate of Title from Florida from 2011 (important proof of provenance).
Original 1941 Chevrolet Trucks Owners Manual (driver’s handbook).
Original 1941 Chevrolet Shop Manual (official workshop manual).
Absolute highlight: Full manufacturer engineering blueprint for the model series, including the historical engine test-stand report.
All German registration documents included, with every exception permit registered legally and correctly (US headlights etc.).

Conclusion:
Because we’re short on time, we’re reluctantly handing over this road-ready piece of automotive history to appreciative hands. This isn’t about quick money for us—it’s about the enjoyment of the hobby among like-minded people, petrolhead conversations, and the great feeling of passing this winning truck on to the next proper garage.
