450SLC
The 450SLC, a fixed head coupe with full-size seats, is powerful, manoeuvrable and compact , yet luxurious, roomy and comfortable. It's engine is a 4. 5 litre V8 with fuel injection and transistorised ignition with an output of 217Din/ up (160 Kw), giving fast acceleration, 0-60 in 8. 8 seconds, and an impressive top speed of 131 mph. Automatic transmission, power assisted steering, electrically-operated tinted windows and headlamp washer/ wipers are some of the many standard features.
An extract from a sales brochure that combined with its constant speed driving at 56mph would return 21. 9mpg still shows a car that's capable of staying with modern traffic. This particular 450slc registered on 19/ 06/ 1976 on Guernsey where it remained until it was cleared by HM revenue & Customs on 07/ 05/ 2008 . Looking back at its substantial history and from a copy of its original registration book of Guernsey it had 4 owners the first owner only kept it for 9 months and the next owners were husband and wife. The 4th owner purchased it 05/ 08/ 2005 before bringing it to the UK in 2008. All of which help back up the low mileage of currently (may rise a little as I'm now enjoying it) 65996. Supported by its original service book with 20 stamps (includes pre delivery and a brake fluid change). Plus various other receipts including handbooks, sales brochures , Mercedes owners club magazines that stack up to a box file and more of history. One of the invoices on file worth looking at is for an engine top end rebuild that was followed by an mot confirm confirms the mileage at the time of 65737 on the 4th April 2018for a total of £3199. 66
So since April 2017 to today's July 2026 it's covered minimal miles of 259 . Even covering such a small amount of miles the invoices keep stacking up including a starter motor (feb/ 2021) and a rear brake rebuild (18/ 1/ 2023). New spark plugs, thermostat and top hose (Dec 2025 ) most recent (june2026) new fuel pump , new fuel hoses around pump and new feed hose from fuel tank. Engine oil service . Various vacuum hoses in engine bay.
Body condition is good to excellent it does have a few marks and in places the yellow paintwork has questionable colour matches.
There is in the history (19/ 12/ 20) an invoice for an exterior detail with a ceramic coat that had a 5 year warranty and as it's always been stored inside it still show how well it presents.
The interior presents well although the front seats have been re trimmed ( another invoice on file for 2 metres of fabric from the SL shop 12/ 5/ 20 ). The centre console is showing signs of age but everything is working. The interior fan switch although working can have a mind of its own.
Under the bonnet is tidy and has been well maintained would only need minor detailing make it shine. Inside the boot it's as standard but does come with various spares and a car cover. There is also a set of steel wheels with their hubcaps that can come with the car if wanted .
Always wanted one ever since being taken out in one when I was a kid. Trying to find one in my price range that didn't need a fortune spending on it. Then this came up for sale with fastidious owners and in Yellow of all colours. Not a massive yellow Fan but can't help admire the way it stands out in a crowd, you'll either love it or hate it. Find myself in a uncomfortable position of putting it up for sale due to the latest rates rise on my workshop and either the small collection I have is going to have to be reduced in size or go completely. This will be the second time I've listed it as went up for sale earlier in the year but managed to hang on to it for a bit longer and am enjoying it in the sun. It needs to be used and have managed to iron out a few of the maintenance issues it needed so it's looking for a new home.
Having had a fair few questions asking for more photos of bodywork, have taken a closer look and found enough issues that the car could use some paint . Highlighted in more photos . You could live with it as I have because it does present well, but I am altering the price to reflect this
