Description
2012 Land Rover Defender 130 Double Cab Pickup Overland Expedition. 2. 2 Puma EngineAfter a lot of thought, I’ve decided it’s time for somebody else to take over the custodianship of my Defender 130. I’ve owned the vehicle for over two and a half years and in that time it has been maintained and upgraded regardless of cost, regularly improved and used exactly as a Defender should be. It isn’t a show vehicle and never has been. It’s been used for family adventures, camping trips, and long distance touring, including recently completing a faultless round trip from the Scottish Highlands to the 24hrs of Le Mans and back. Originally part of the Environment Agency fleet, the vehicle benefited from a well maintained early life and was speed limited to 56mph. Once released into private ownership, the limiter was removed and the vehicle was professionally remapped by Alive Tuning. The Defender currently sits at approximately 149, 000 miles and has been serviced every 6, 000 miles during my ownership. It has just received a service along with new front discs, pads and brake lines before its recent trip to France. The chassis and bulkhead are both solid and have been regularly protected ahead of the Scottish winters. The vehicle presents well and attracts a lot of attention wherever it goes, but let’s be honest - it’s still a Defender. It rattles, it's draughty, it’s not fast and it’s not pretending to be anything else. What it is, however, is a reliable, honest and ultra rare Defender 130. Far too many upgrades to remember, but all detailed in the extensive service history file I have created documenting every penny spent on it during my ownership. I would list the total amount spent, but my wife might see this, and I value my life. Key upgrades include:• Alive Tuning remap, Allisport Intercooler, Silicone Hoses and Demand Exhaust.• Warn Bluetooth Remote Control Winch• 6 x Cibie LED Super Oscar Spotlights• Ventura Two Person Roof Tent• Full ARB 2. 5m x 2. 5m Awning with Room & Floor.• Old Man Emu Shock Absorbers and Heavy Duty Steering Damper with Heavy Duty Replacement Steering Bars• Clifford Alarm and Immobiliser• Genuine Bowler Alloy Wheels• BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tyres• Wireless Apple CarPlay• Heavy-duty Rear Drawer System with Sliding Top• Recovery Equipment including RaxPax Traction Boards and High-Lift JackAlso included are two boxes of additional parts that I simply haven’t got around to fitting, including an Optimill reversing camera kit and a complete spotlight wiring loom plus more. The sale will also include:• 5x genuine Land Rover Wolf Steel Wheels fitted with Goodyear Wrangler tyres along with 30mm wheel spacers. The vehicle is not perfect. There are age-related marks, some paint imperfections as shown in the photos and the usual Defender blemishes here and there. I’d rather be completely honest than pretend otherwise. It is, however, a very rare Defender 130, mechanically strong, properly maintained and ready to be used and enjoyed. The whole family will genuinely be sad to see it go, but with 3 of my boys taking up karting which now consumes all of my spare time and cash, it simply isn’t getting used as much as it deserves. Private registration has now been removed and is now on its original plate of: WJ12GRFSerious enquiries welcome. Car Located between Aberdeen & Inverness, both of which have Airports with regular flights in and out from Heathrow, Gatwick, Bristol, Birmingham etc. I’ve owned plenty of Land Rovers over the years, but a Defender 130 had always been the one I wanted. For me, it’s the ultimate Defender - practical enough for family adventures, capable enough to go almost anywhere and one of the rarest variants ever produced. When I bought this one, the intention was never to build a show truck. I wanted to build something dependable that could be loaded up, driven anywhere and enjoyed without worrying about every scratch or stone chip. That’s exactly what it’s done. From family camping trips and weekends away it has never let us down. What I’ll miss most is the character. Every journey feels like an adventure, whether it’s a trip to the supermarket or across Europe, and it never fails to attract attention or start conversations wherever it goes. I genuinely hope it goes to someone who appreciates what these rare 130s are all about and continues using it for the adventures it was built for.
