Description

I am selling my 1970 Moto Guzzi V7 750cc Ambassador, a motorcycle which I have owned since 2017, having purchased it privately and which has given me much enjoyment. Originally sold in the USA, it was imported to the UK by the previous owner. It has a four-speed gearbox.

Mechanically the bike is in very good condition for its age and it has only been used for a modest mileage each year on Italian classic bike runs and other events. It starts easily, runs very well and sounds great without without deafening the neighbourhood. Engine, gearbox and bevel box oils have been changed annually. Each winter the carbs are drained of fuel, as is the fuel tank, which gets a light coating of oil on the inside to fend off rust as it hibernates in my dry garage. I run the bike on low-ethanol petrol when available.

Within recent years the following work has been done in addition to the usual simple routine maintenance :-

-the clutch was professionally replaced at NBS, Stafford in 2018
-new exhaust collars with lockings were installed in 2019, replacing the original Guzzi type which were prone to vibrating loose
-new cylinder head valves, guides and springs were installed by Laverda Scozia in 2020
-conical air filters have been installed for ease of fitment and maintenance access but an original airbox type filter is available and included in the sale (I just find it really fiddly to connect it to the carbs)
-Hagon shocks replaced the original worn Marzocchis (which are included in the sale if wanted)
-an electronic voltage regulator was fitted in 2025, supplied by Classic Dynamo Conversions (CDC) and wired inside the original Marelli blue metal box cover to keep its original look. This is much more efficient than the original electro-mechanical type which had previously failed on two occasions
-CDC also checked and serviced the Marelli dynamo/ generator which was found to be working well and giving the required output

Cosmetically the bike is not concours but looks a bike which has been cared for and which shines up nicely without too much trouble. I have touched up bits of paintwork here and there but judge for yourself from the pictures or come and have a look yourself if interested in buying a very good example of a classic loop-frame Moto Guzzi which will give you a lot of pleasure. The bike has that wonderful classic Moto Guzzi character, looks great for its fifty-six years and is comfortable to ride with its upright position and lovely wide handlebars. The handling is excellent and the electric start and shaft-drive bring convenience and low maintenance compared to many other classic bikes. It has won a couple of prizes at classic events. It is fully operational, has been used to attend three classic bike runs this year so far and is sitting in my garage ready to be ridden when required.

A small selection of spare parts and a limited set of historical maintenance note from the bike's time in the USA are available.

Enquiries are welcomed from genuinely interested potential buyers. More information on the bike, additional photos or video clips can be made available on request, as is an inspection of the bike.

Asking price £5950 or best offer.
