1969 VW Type 3 Squareback Sunroof – Original Survivor – 2110cc – Rare Opportunity
A rare opportunity to own a very original 1969 VW Type 3 Squareback, and an even rarer factory sunroof model.
This is a genuine survivor, retaining its original paint, original interior, high-back seats, and full pop-out windows. Originally discovered as a barn find in Pennsylvania, USA, the car was stored from 1979 until 2006, preserving it remarkably well.
Originally supplied as a 1. 6-litre automatic, the car has since been upgraded to a 2110cc manual, creating a far more engaging driving experience while retaining the character and charm of the original Type 3. The engine was built using an original VW case with billet internals and has covered approximately 4, 000 miles since completion.
Imported by me in 2006, I am only the second owner from new, having owned and cherished the car for the past 20 years.
The shell remains exceptionally solid and rust-free, with just one repair carried out during its lifetime to the fuel filler inner wing. The underside is equally solid and, aside from a few age-related marks, the car presents beautifully and remains a fantastic example of an unrestored Type 3.
