Perfect spec S- Class, has everything you want, but non of the over complicated nonsense you don’t want on a vehicle this age.
Hands down THE most comfortable and relaxing vehicle I have driven, super comfortable seats, magic carpet air suspension ride quality, zero road noise, effortless drive at its finest, loads of torque connected to that lovely 7G gearbox.
Extremely good condition interior, black heated / electric leather seats, computer functions for lumbar support, ice cold dual zone climate control (air con), 4 rear vents for heating and cooling, working sat nav, optional factory Bluetooth including module, cruise control and speed limiter, electric fold mirrors, automatic drop rear headrests, auto dip rear view mirror and door mirrors, ambient cabin lighting and puddle lights, onboard computer system that does too much to list, can angle the main screen to any direction you like via the buttons, rear vanity mirrors x2, built in phone handset, fantastic sound system, 6 in dash disc changer, Mini disc player, headlamp washers…. Impossible to list everything “it’s an S Class” !
AirMatic system works fine, rises up on the button, lowers fine, no warning lights, drives perfectly, compressor is very heathy can manage 2 rise and drops before it needs to kick in, 15/ 20 seconds of running tank is full.
Car has been maintained extremely well, over the past 4 years or so, oil change every 5000 miles (9 litres a time) fuel/ air/ pollen filters done alternatively, always ran on V Power Diesel with Millers fuel additive, Only done long distance driving never used for urban driving…. All the big jobs done
Fuel tank are huge issue on the W221 cost an absolute fortune that’s if you can even get one, this has been sent away and professionally repaired at big expense, plus while all the rear end was removed, had all new brake lines, calipers, discs, pads, shoes, diff service, main gearbox service and conductor plate replaced and SS repair to exhaust system to keep the original going.
All tyres relatively new
Now onto the not so much bad but age related issues (20 year old vehicle)
Rear arch’s starting to bubble find me a 2 decade old Mercedes with no rust on the arches, no rust anywhere else however.
Dent O/ S/ R quarter next to lamp, front wheel bearing starting to rumble basic tapered roller bearings as they are just free wheeling hubs been RWD ( new bearing included in sale) FAG original quality part, and usual sticky buttons on the steering wheel. 2006 56 Mercedes Benz S Class S320 CDI
