Description
Selling my 2000 MK3 MR2 it, only really selling as where I now live it isn’t too practical, if someone from here is interested in either a new project or a daily
83, XXX miles from new, sat in a garage between 2010 - 2017, and has been enjoyed for many years, with many years of enjoyment ahead too
Recent spend in the last year or two, including being serviced every 3000 miles with a huge service book:
New handbrake cable, VVTI system brand new
New cambelt
New timing chain
New water pump
New rear offside shock absorber
Stereo upgrade alpine speakers and JVC touchscreen.
Top quality Gravity performance header installed by previous owner to get rid of the issues with the pre cats destroying themselves
Owners manual so full with receipts and work from when it was new
Hasn’t been driven like a mad man, I used it as a daily from September 2025 to now, and have done 8000 miles since I took ownership from someone in the Drivers Club where it has been babied its whole life
2 original keys
Paint and soft top in great condition, wing mirror paint lacquer is starting to peel, and right side headlight is misted
The issues:
Engine note: When driving, there's a light noise under gentle acceleration. I replaced the cam shaft pulley last week and it made it sound better, but this has been fully investigated by multiple mechanics since 2022 and confirmed as minor wear with no effect on performance. The car runs and drives exactly as it should, pulls strongly, and has many miles of enjoyment ahead, just sounds annoying and can’t put my finger on the issue.
Check engine: both o2 sensors are bad and need replaced, only fault code to my knowledge, £70 a sensor
Antenna stuck in place, one of the motors had fallen off in the system and is grinding when you start the car, so I had the cable unplugged so it stops trying to murder itself
MOT advisories (valid until November):
No majors, did have an emissions issue but that was when I didn’t know how to properly get these cars to pass the emissions
Been told from mechanics that there is little rust on the car, it’s actually in fantastic condition
Front both front shock rubber boots splitGenuinely was a fantastic car bar the slight engine rattle which can be annoying (put the music up and you can’t hear it)
Since it is a light car it is really whippy and is a great car for someone who is into classics and who wants something fun and reliable
