A fantastic opportunity to own a genuine Peugeot 205 GTI 1. 6 from 1988 – one of the most iconic hot hatches ever made. This example has had extensive recent mechanical work, making it a superb, usable classic that can be enjoyed straight away.
Recent Work (all completed within the last month using brand new parts):
Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres all round, full Milltek exhaust system, full brake overhaul including front discs & pads and rear drums & shoes, timing belt and water pump, Bilstein B4 suspension front and rear, front drop links, new gear linkages, new battery, starter motor, front anti-roll bar bushes, refurbished steering wheel, and 1. 9 GTI wheels (not original to the 1. 6, but they improve the stance and look).
History & Condition:
The car underwent a full nut-and-bolt restoration approximately 10 years ago, with a comprehensive photo album documenting the process. The engine bay and underside remain in excellent condition and have been well preserved thanks to dry storage over recent years.
A previous owner stored the car under a cover, which has resulted in some paint imperfections. From a short distance, the car presents very well and looks stunning; however, up close there is some micro-blistering in areas. It hasn't been enough to justify a full respray in my opinion, and it makes for a more usable example that you can enjoy without worrying about every stone chip.
There is some bubbling on the rear quarter panels and around the sunroof – common areas on these cars – but nothing major and something that could be addressed relatively easily if desired.
Additional Notes:
The car has passed its last three MOTs with no advisories, is mechanically spot on and ready to drive, and is an honest example with plenty of scope to take to the next level.
