Description
This is a classic car, lovingly cared for over many years, and sold as such. It is not a new vehicle and should be expected to have age-appropriate wear consistent with a 64-year-old car.
That said, Woodie has received a huge amount of love and attention:
- Full body respray in original smoke grey
- Ash wood frame sanded and re-oiled
- Hand-crafted wooden rear panels, oiled and finished
- Engine serviced — new spark plugs, filters and gaskets fitted
- Upgraded to electric fuel pump
- Servo brake modification fitted
- Engine compartment cleaned and resprayed
- Interior restored with handmade liners, covers and heat-moulded carpets
- Moto Lita wooden steering wheel fitted
- Electrics, switches and gauges all in working order
- Upgraded wheels and hub caps
Odometer reads 59, 000 miles, though this is unwarranted. Sold as seen. Buyers are welcome and encouraged to view in person before purchase. Meet Woodie. A fully restored 1962 Morris Minor Traveller with a hand-crafted California Woodie conversion — and quite possibly the most characterful car you'll ever own.
Designed by Alec Issigonis (the genius behind the Mini), the Morris Traveller was already a British icon. This one goes further. The Woodie conversion replaces the rear metal panels with hand-carpented ash wood, paying homage to 1960s West Coast surf culture — the same aesthetic immortalised by the Beach Boys. British heritage meets California cool.
The exterior has been professionally restored and resprayed in its original smoke grey. The ash frame was fully remade and recently sanded and oiled. Upgraded Morris Marina wheels finished with embossed 'M' hub caps complete the look.
The interior is rare: a limited-edition Duotone finish produced exclusively between 1962–64, restored with handmade liners, covers, and heat-moulded carpets. The wood theme runs through to a gorgeous Moto Lita wooden steering wheel and rare original glove box doors.
Under the bonnet, the Morris 1098 engine starts straight away and drives smoothly. Full service history of the restoration including new plugs, filters, gaskets, and an electric fuel pump upgrade. Servo brake modification for extra stopping power. Odometer reads 59, 000 miles (unwarranted).
This is a show-stopper at any classic car event, a head-turner on any road, and a genuine collector's piece.
