Description
2002 Volkswagen Passat W8 4. 0L Manual Estate
UK CAR - Not an import.
The first W engined car that was the test bed for VW Group to create the Bugatti W16.
Probably one of the rarest and coolest sleeper cars still on the road. You’ll probably know how rare these are if you’re here.
254 Passat W8’s came to the UK in the early 2000’s, a mixture of manuals, autos, estates and saloons.
According to howmanyleft. co. uk there are 15 manual W8’s left, of which only 5 are believed to be estates. This car really is the rarest combination of the bunch being a manual estate with the optional black Recaro interior.

Oil and filter changed by myself at 146, 981 7/ 3/ 2026
Many of the invoices for services also include general maintenance i. e discs, pads etc
In my ownership I’ve changed the oil and filter with only the best Motul fluids. I also fitted 4 new Uniroyal Rainsport 5’s, replaced engine mount, rear discs and pads, new Bosch battery and a couple of other bits. I do have a pile of new parts that I was going to change in due course, none of it is ‘needed’ as such, just wanted to replace parts that I felt it would benefit from - these will all be included in the sale. Rear top mounts and dampers, front brake discs, front and rear brake hoses.
The car drives perfect and pulls really well, it’s a real pleasure to drive. It will happy sit at 25mph in 6th gear and pull all the way to 175mph… don’t ask how I know.
The number plate is included, I added this and believe it should stay with the car.
Please, bear in mind this is a 24 year old car therefore is by no means a pristine example. There is the odd mark here and there plus a scratch on the passenger side. The fuel gauge every so often reads zero and the central locking doesn’t work. The fob does unlock the boot, just have to open the drivers door with the key. Apparently this can be caused by a faulty micro switch in the drivers door lock (there are many invoices showing some of these have been replaced before).
