Description
This is my 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Convertible which I have owned since 2005. It has very low mileage as it was only really used in the Summer and was stored in my garage for the last couple of years until I recently made the decision to sell it (only because I have a 1968 Lotus Elan project car and need the garage space for this).
It has a shiny new MoT after £2500 spent on recommissioning the brakes with new rear calibers, new discs and pads all round and replacement of a slightly corroded front brake pipe. In addition the battery control module (a common fail with age) has been replaced along with brand new batteries costing another £1300 in total.
This is a luxury sports car with a light blue/ silver exterior (Mercedes called it Tellur Silver) and a grey leather interior which is in excellent condition considering the car's age. The 7 G-Tronic automatic transmission has the option of switching to 'manual' and combined with the powerful 5. 0 litre V8 engine makes for exhilarating performance when driven 'in anger' with an extremely satisfying exhaust noise. All the plugs and coils were replaced a few hundred miles ago (not a cheap job but shouldn't need doing again for another 40k miles I believe).
Although it is a serious performance vehicle it is also a very relaxed tourer and will happily eat up motorway miles on cruise control and burble along country lanes making it perfect for those who appreciate style and performance. It has heated seats, climate control, a navigation system, parking sensors front and back, heated screen wash, automatic roll bar and xenon headlights, and is of course a convertible with the superb Vario electronic folding roof also having the optional panoramic glass insert offering a comfortable and stylish driving experience with the roof up or down. A Viseo Blue Tooth module (complete with instructions) is fitted in the telephone cradle which allows modern smart phones to connect for hands free use (my current iPhone connects without problem). Safety features such as ABS, ESP, and airbags ensure a secure journey on the road.
It was always serviced by the dealership where I bought it until the warranty expired and thereafter by a well known local Mercedes authorised independent engineer. With a valid MOT until July 2027 it should be a reliable choice for a performance car enthusiast on a budget. It comes with all the original documentation and manuals in their Mercedes branded case and is priced to sell at less than similar cars so please no tyre kickers. It is also listed elsewhere so be quick if you want it.
Included in the sale is a bespoke garage car cover piped in blue and with a Mercedes logo in blue. The car also comes with three extra 6 CD cassettes for the CD changer.
