Description
1980 Mercedes Benz R107 350SL V8
A great useable example of the model that is on the button ready to be driven and enjoyed. Presented in a slightly unusual colour combination that looks stunning and always draws admiring attention.
A fabulous cruising drive, top down on a sunny day an R107SL is hard to beat. The V8 sounds wonderful and the whole car runs and drives as it should. Gearbox, steering, brakes etc all in fine working order as is backed up by it’s recent MOT pass. During my ownership the car has always been garaged and used sparingly on sunny days. I have run it over the last 2 hot summers and can report it has no temperature issues nor does it struggle to keep up with modern traffic and road conditions.
Obviously the car has had much money spent on it over the years to keep it in presentable and serviceable condition. In 2022 the car underwent body repairs including the cutting out and replacement of sills, boot floor, wings and various other bits. It then had a bare metal respray, a new soft top roof (full correct working order) was fitted and the interior refreshed with carpets replaced some re-trimming to the front seats and door cards refreshed. The model correct alloys wheels were also re-furbished and new tryes fitted.
Various mechanical works are detailed along with a gearbox re-build in 2022 and a major overhaul of the brakes. During my ownership I have replaced all the plugs and plug leads along with a new coil a few minor bits for the MOTs and some work to fix the driver’s window mechanism.
It has to be said that whilst the car underwent significant body work there are a few areas that could do with improvement, as you can see from the pictures it is nothing major and very much in keeping with classic car ownership. Crucially I have also reflected its non-concours condition in the price. It is a lovely old car in perfectly useable and presentable condition ready to be enjoyed.
It is registered as an historic vehicle so is Road Tax / Ulez / Caz exempt. And whilst it has a fully valid MOT it no longer requires one.
I have lots of invoices, handbooks, spare key and the colour matched factory hard-top roof and stand. I have priced the car realistically for what it is and if you are interested I would thoroughly recommend viewing. It is stored professionally so I would require around 48hrs notice for the car to be made available.
