Description
Originally finished in “New White” , the car was red when I bought it in 1988. In 1990 it was taken back to bare metal and repainted in cellulose Jaguar Primrose Yellow.
It is a matching numbers vehicle with a Heritage Certificate.
It saw occasional use until 2001, when I invested approximately £6, 000 in a restoration and respray in two-pack polyurethane paint.
Since 2025 the Herald has returned to regular use and is currently driven daily. It is taxed, MOT'd, mechanically sound and ready to enjoy immediately.
Specification & Upgrades:
• 1968 Triumph Herald Convertible
• 76, 550 miles
• Jaguar Primrose Yellow paintwork
• Electronic ignition (Lumenition)
• Alternator
• Cylinder head converted for unleaded fuel
• Larger Triumph Vitesse fuel tank
• Triumph Vitesse wheels
• Rear seat belts fitted professionally
• Black canvas hood in really good order
• Tax exempt
• MOT exempt (currently MOT'd)
This is best described as an honest "5-footer" rather than a concours example. It presents very well, has solid bodywork, good paintwork and drives as it should. Mechanically dependable and regularly used.
If I kept the car I would:
• Powder coat the wheels and fit more period-correct tyres
• Tidy the interior and refit an original-diameter steering wheel
• Fit Vitesse door cappings
• Detail the engine bay
• Improve some of the panel gaps, as is common with Heralds
This Herald has been part of my life for 38 years and has transported my family through many happy memories (including the fitting of rear seat belts so my children could enjoy it).
It spent many years garaged in London and has always been maintained as a cherished classic rather than simply being stored away.
A genuinely used and enjoyed Herald with long-term ownership, known history and sensible upgrades.

Purchased as my first car from the mother of a friend, who I believe had owned it since she was 21 years old. The car has therefore had just three (family) owners from new, including myself.
I bought it because it was designed well in 1959, cheap to run and insure, convertible (good for carrying a bicycle), and gave me a sense of Italian and British design (and Americana).
We took it to France and I regularly drove it to London.
Now just used locally.
