DESCRIPTION
Ford Focus 1. 6 Zetec MK1, 2001 (Y607 XKL), 5-door hatchback in Light Metallic Sapphire Blue.
Petrol, manual, 5 seats, Climate Pack. Registered 7 June 2001. MOT until 8 September 2027 (passed MOT on 14 August 2026 and now has 12 1/ 2 months MOT). Just over 125, 000 miles now. 6 previous owners. 2 keys, book pack and locking wheel nut key V5C present. Bristol Clean Air Zone compliant, and likely fine for most other zones.
Why I'm selling: I bought this a month ago a runaround while I was having works carried out on my Mk1 Focus Estate. The Estate is sorted now hence the Focus (affectionately called "Catherine Zetec Jones") is up for sale.
I've not used it much, BUT it's driven well the whole time I've owned it and with the previous keeper, who lived in Cinderford Forest of Dean too. It's done Cinderford to Bristol a few times and the Cinderford to Swindon run for work with no issues, and it starts first turn even after sitting for weeks. The 1. 6 Zetec engine has a reputation for lasting to around 200k if looked after. Parts are cheap and it's a simple car to work on. The previous owner, John, was a MK1 enthusiast who had five of them, so it's been looked after by someone who knew them.
Work that's been done (the major jobs that tend to finish these cars off at this age are already sorted):
Replacement headlights
Front shocks, springs and top mounts
Both front lower arms and drop links
Offside track rod end
Nearside caliper and flexi hose
Genuine Ford handbrake cables
Rear brake pipes and flexi hoses
Rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders
New rear springs
Sill ends cut out, repaired with fresh metal and undersealed
Inner wheel arches wire-brushed, treated and undersealed
Serviced at MOT time in Sept 2025 (and only done 2, 500 miles since then)
Cam belt and clutch done by the owner before John — clutch is light, belt looks fairly new (visible from the engine bay)
Cambelt has been done at least twice in the past; once at 42k miles in May 2013, and again at 107k in summer 2021
Current MOT advisories (from the 8 August 2026 test):
Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material Nearside Front
Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material Offside Front
floor to sill slight corrosion both sides
subframe corroded but not seriously weekend rear
tyre worn close to legal limit / worn on edge Nearside rear
tyre worn close to legal limit / worn on edge Offside rear
You can check the full MOT history yourself on the internet (I google DVLA MOT History) using the reg: Y 607 XKL
Other small niggles (it's 25 years old):
Air con needs a re-gas, but the light comes on when pressed so assuming it all works.
Heater control dials can be stiff to turn — probably just need popping off and lubricating
John disabled the central locking on the two rear doors only, as the alarm was tripping and he barely used the car. So the rear doors lock manually — push the catch in and shut the door; they still open from the inside. Looks like an easy fix; it never bothered me
Surface rust on the driver's side wing where it meets the bumper, and on the rear arches. Please inspect photo's and take into account the age!
Condition for viewing: The interior and exterior have been cleaned by myself. Please zoom in on pictures, I have been fully transparent on condition. I can send a video on request.
Any questions please shout! reluctant sale as mk1 Focus's are brilliant cars and this one is in really clean condition.
You are very welcome to come and have a look at the car - we are on the Village Quarter in Portishead
