Description
1997 Rover Mini Cooper with factory fitted sports pack with 40, 000 miles.
This is a low mileage 1997 Rover Mini Cooper which, at the time, benefited from the desirable factory fitted sport pack and upgraded further with the additional Mini Cooper branded leather seats. Finished in Tahiti blue with a white diamond II roof and white stripes on the bonnet (Paint code JDR), which I believe is the very best colour combo for a Rover Mini Cooper Sport.
This car now has an MOT until 19 May 2027 and all advisories have been addressed. It was also serviced with its last MOT.
It has been garaged and in the same family for the past 22 years.
The number plate (P2 BWG valued at approx £600) will be sold with the car
It has been family owned and kept in a garage since 2004 and only occasionally used, hence the low mileage of 40, 000+ miles. It was initially owned by my dear mum, who was a very well known character around Banstead village for owning and driving the Mini. Following my mum’s sad death in 2011, my dad took ownership of the Mini and he kept it maintained and garaged at his home until 2023, when an accident to his shoulder in 2023 meant he could no longer handle the non-powered steering without pain. Since 2023 it has remained in a garage and only came out very occasionally for minor use and an MOT. From 2025 to 2026 the mini was left in his garage, until it was passed onto myself (his daughter). Unfortunately, I am unable to use the car as a practical form of transport and have now decided to regrettably sell the car on. It is such a beautiful and fun car, I feel it needs to be fully enjoyed again and hopefully loved as much as it has been over the last 22 years.
Since my ownership in May 2026, it has since received a new MOT and new service with only minor advisories of interest, of which the expansion tank was replaced, the old coolant system was flushed out and the system was bled and new coolant put in. The advisory also states that the break pads were low, so we purchased some new Bembo pads to replace them, but on inspection there was a lot of life left on the old ones and didn’t need replacing soon, so the new pads will also be provided.
We also removed all of the original Cooper leather seats to thoroughly clean the interior and on inspection the leather is in genuinely excellent condition with no rips or wear marks, but just a beautiful patina with age related creases and the lovely Cooper branding on the two front seats.
The tyres are in very good condition with matching Nankang AS-1’s on the front and matching Dunlop SP Sport 2000’s on the rear. The original Minilite wheels are in good condition, but with minor scuffs to the edge of the wheels. The original Rover Mini jack is still with the car.
The bodywork is in generally good condition, but has rust spots at the lower right corner of the rear window, along the drivers door and on the lower leading edge of the drivers side wing. Also the rear bumper has 2 small dents, but the front bumper is in good condition. Inside there are some marks to the wooden surround of the instrument panel but it still has its original Rover stereo. The car also has its original Rover alarm and immobiliser and two sets of keys are present with the two key fobs still working well. Finally since it has lived on our drive, we have noticed a very minor hydraulic leak, but it is so minor it didn’t show up as an MOT advisory, so should be easy to solve and does not effect the drive. The car also comes with some lovely original bills and receipts accumulated over the last 22 years.
FYI there will be no test drives without full proof of insurance cover.
All in all this is a very original 1997 Rover Mini Cooper Sport which has not been messed about with in any way, and now becoming very rare in this original condition.
