1979 Bay Window Westfalia Camper. LHD. Sage Green. Berlin Interior(original). Bought/ imported in 2007, having been imported from California via Europe.(have documents)Full back to metal respray 2008 including underseal/ window rubbers. Original paint code L63H Sage Green.(Original manufacturer stickers were kept, see drivers door area)Gearbox/ clutch plus all associated works replaced 2015. Gearbox(The Engine Shop) changed from auto to manual. Replacement turnkey engine in 2017.(VW Engine Co)Twin Carbs manually aspirated rather than fuel injection. Mileage at engine replacement approx 50, 000.
Mileage now 54, 250. It's been in storage from 2019 to present. (but ran occasionally)
Over the years amongst general parts/ servicing/ maintenance the following have been fitted:
Engine c/ w replacement heat exchangers
Starter/ alternator
Gearbox/ clutch
Front seats re-trimmed. Comes with Buddy seat.
Pop-top canvas replaced
Door cards replaced.
Serviced/ new tyres/ roadworthy check before being collected recently(I have been working abroad)Incl plugs/ points/ condenser/ brake seal/ battery).
Most recently fully tuned/ gear selector mountings renewed/ new fuel pump, carried out by Cotswold Classic Car Restoration.
Other than that the interior is original. No cooker(as per California spec). There is the original sink/ tap but no pump or original water tank.
As per pictures this is a very solid, original bus with minor rust starting to come back in the usual places.
Having the original interior(very rare) is a great bonus, ready either for restoration or replacement.
Tax/ MOT exempt however has been maintained to MOT standards.
As described, comprehensive works have been carried out on this camper along with general maintenance/ MOT's etc over the years since purchase. All done with the intent to keep it as original as possible, hence nothing has been changed to the Berlin interior. The original USA electrical panel is intact however there are no interior electrics connected. The only main item removed when imported was the ac system, which was unserviceable.
An honest, solid bus which can be used as is, restored fully or adapted to individual tastes.
