Description
Moto Morini Maestro 500 in mostly original condition, runs great and handles superbly, a good middleweight bike, this is the model with twin disc brakes at the front. It has Avon Roadrider tyres about 1/ 4 worn which suit it well, Koni rear shocks, the seat I had re-foamed and re-covered by Viking Seats in Kent, the foam had died and the cover was far to slippery for safe use.
It comes with a box of spares including air intake rubbers, exhaust ring nuts, cam belts new and used, tail lens, clip on type riser handle bars, spare engine mounts, gaskets and many smaller parts. Also tools for generator removal, exhaust ring removal, a clutch holder and a manual, parts book and a history of Morini book.
The so named quirky clutch is fine, its called quirky because its dry and unlike most other clutches. Also the starter system is fine and works first time, I took the cover off when I first bought it as people said it was a good idea to check the sprag clutch, it seems fine and works every time. I 3D printed a tool holder for under the seat, it will hold tools and other small bits and still leave room for a chainlock above it and the battery. Sadly the keys for the seat and steering locks have been lost, but I am sure replacement locks could be obtained from somewhere.
This is the only bike that I have ever owned that people stop and look at and are usually puzzled as they have never heard of Moto Morini. I also have an 850 Moto Guzzi and oddly the performance of the 2 bikes is similar, top speed and acceleration is about the same but where the Guzzi is a bit of a lump around town, the Morini is far more fun, revvy but still torquey, its still happy at motorway speeds though.
I bought it in April 2026 but due to issues with another bike I can no longer keep it, so it is now for sale, sadly I only used it for around 250 miles. I changed the headlight bulb to LED which preserves the battery charge and also lights the road ahead, the old was was not so good at that. I also replaced the split pins used to hold the disc pads in place with custom made pins and R clips, I still have the originals which can go with the bike, split pins holding disc pads always worried me.
